Spinal Adjustment

The term “adjustment” refers to the specific manipulation that chiropractors apply to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally.  T he objective of the chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation (misalignment of the vertebrae) which results in an increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability and improved function.

Dr. Scarpelli provides a combination of chiropractic techniques which differ from patient-to-patient.  Not every “body” is the same.  In general, Dr. Scarpelli’s focus is first on the neuromuscular component of the area of interference.  The is where muscle release procedures (Myofascial Release) are used.  Then when the muscular component is improved, he will do adjustment procedures and pressure techniques like Acupressure along the spine.  Also, at that time, he may stretch the spine with a procedure called Flexion/Distraction.  Other adjustment procedures that he uses are the low force technique called Logan Basic and the standard of Chiropractic adjustments called Diversified.
